Each Checkout link opens payment with that plan selected: only the email address and payment remain.

## How it works

1. Choose a plan and pay on the product page (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or crypto).
2. The eSIM QR code arrives by email; install it before you travel (Settings > Mobile/Cellular > Add eSIM).
3. On arrival, select the eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for it. Your own SIM stays in the phone for calls and SMS.

Data-only: the eSIM has no phone number. Requires an eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked phone.

## For travelers from the US: what US carriers charge in Portugal

A 10-day trip on a day pass is $120 on AT&T and $120 on Verizon, per line. The passes include calls and texts; this eSIM is data-only, and the US number keeps working beside it.

| Carrier | Cost in Portugal | Details | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| AT&T | $12 a day (International Day Pass) | $6 a day for each extra line; at most 10 days are charged per line per bill. Elite 2.0 includes 20 GB a month abroad. | https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1175103/ |
| Verizon | $12 a day (TravelPass) | 5 GB of high-speed data a day, then 3G speeds. Or $100 a month for 20 GB. Unlimited Ultimate includes 15 GB a month abroad. | https://www.verizon.com/plans/international/international-travel/ |
| Google Fi | Included on Unlimited Premium | 50 GB of high-speed data in 200+ destinations; Flexible pays $10 per GB. | https://support.google.com/fi/answer/9462098 |
| Visible | Global Pass from $5 a day | Visible+ includes one Global Pass day a month, Visible+ Pro two. | https://www.visible.com/plans |
| T-Mobile | Not quoted | Its pages could not be read when these were checked. | - |

## Your eSIM for Portugal, online the moment you land

Install your Portugal eSIM before you fly by scanning the QR code, then simply turn off airplane mode after you land. You are connected straight away at Lisbon, Porto or Faro, with no plastic SIM to swap and no phone shop to find before your transfer into town.

The one plan covers the whole country, so the same eSIM works whether you are starting in Lisbon, road-tripping the Algarve, or tasting your way up the Douro Valley.

## Getting connected at Lisbon, Porto and Faro airports

Set the eSIM up at home and it connects automatically when you switch off airplane mode at Lisbon (LIS), Porto (OPO) or Faro (FAO). You are online for the Aerobus, the metro or a Bolt ride into the centre the second you arrive, with maps and translation ready before you reach the taxi rank.

## Coverage from the cities to the Algarve

Portugal runs on three networks - MEO, NOS and Vodafone - with fast 4G/LTE nationwide and 5G across Lisbon, Porto and the larger towns. That is plenty for live maps, restaurant bookings, the CP train app and video calls home.

Coverage holds up well along the Algarve coast and the main tourist routes; only deep-rural corners of the Alentejo interior thin out, as they would on any network. A few GB covers a city break of maps and messaging - size up if you plan to stream or tether a laptop.

## Madeira, the Azores and island trips

Heading to the islands? The eSIM works on Madeira and across the main Azorean islands, covering Funchal, Ponta Delgada and the popular hiking and whale-watching spots. Coverage is strongest in and around the towns, so download offline maps before heading into the more remote levada trails or crater hikes.

## FAQ

### Does the eSIM work on Madeira and the Azores?

Yes. The Portugal plan covers Madeira and the main Azorean islands as well as the mainland, so the same eSIM works if your trip combines Lisbon or Porto with an island stay. Coverage is best in and near the towns.

### Will it work on the Lisbon Metro and CP trains?

Yes - you will have data across the Lisbon Metro and on Comboios de Portugal (CP) routes between the main cities, so the live transit and timetable apps work on the move. Signal can briefly drop in long tunnels, as with any mobile network.

### Is coverage good in the Algarve and rural areas?

Coverage is strong along the Algarve coast and the main routes. Very remote parts of the Alentejo interior can be patchy, so download offline maps if you are heading well off the beaten track.
